Day 1: Miami, United States
Saturday, 11 May 2019 – Departure: 17.00
MSC Cruises shore excursions can be a clever option to see Miami. It’s a city of wildly diverse districts, jigsawed into a vast urban corridor from two technically separate cities: mainland Miami and the huge sand bar known as Miami Beach. If you’re sticking to the most popular areas in Miami Beach and downtown, though, you can zip around easily by bus and on foot. During an MSC cruise in the Caribbean most people spend their time in South Beach, a fairly small area at the southern end of the sand bar, where you’ll find many of Florida’s leading art galleries, trendsetting restaurants, and much of its boisterous club scene.
Day 2: At Sea
Sunday, 12 May 2019
Sit back, kick off your shoes and put your feet up during our ‘at sea’ days, where you can chill in the bar, lounge by the pool or enjoy a relaxing beauty treatment in the spa. The MSC Aurea Spa on MSC Seaside is a luxurious Balinese spa offering signature relaxation treatments to revitalise body and soul. Complete with a thermal area, beauty salon and nail boutique, the MSC Aurea Spa will leave you feeling pampered from head to toe. Or if you’re feeling energetic, now’s the chance to explore all the amazing activities the ship has to offer.
Day 3: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Monday, 13 May 2019 – Arrival: 17.00
San Juan is one of the world’s top cruise ship destinations, with most of the pleasure boats docking at the port by the old town. As recently as the 1970s, Old San Juan (Viejo San Juan) was a reminder of better times, a run-down collection of Spanish colonial relics, in little better shape than the collapsed empire that constructed them. Now, however, after extensive and careful restoration, this seven-block-square area is considered one of the best-kept troves of Spanish colonial architecture and has become a World Heritage Site.
Day 4: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Tuesday, 14 May 2019 – Departure: 01.00
What better way to end a relaxing day on the ship than with a leisurely stroll through beautiful Old San Juan? Situated on its own little island and home to a slew of historical landmarks, Old San Juan is not only a joy to explore, but also affords priceless views of the sun setting over the Caribbean Sea. Your fully guided tour begins with a short transfer to Ballajá Barracks, a beautiful Spanish-built 19th century building. Soak up amazing views of San Juan bay at dusk as you walk through the cobbled streets, passing such notable landmarks as the Plaza del Quinto Centenario, San José Church and Calle del Cristo.
Day 4: Charlotte Amalie, United States Virgin Islands
Tuesday, 14 May 2019 – Arrival: 07.00 – Departure: 19.00
A cruise to the U.S. Virgin Islands means entering the small constellation of St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. If you travel with an MSC cruise ship, you will disembark at Charlotte Amalie, the capital with streets and places still bearing Danish names. While you enjoy your holiday in the Antilles, you should take a pleasant stroll through the city and discover its gems. From Government Hill, head to Lille Tarne Gade, which means the street of the little tower in Danish: with its 99 steps, it is probably the most important stepped street of those built by the Danish from bricks used by European ships as ballast.
Day 5: Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Wednesday, 15 May 2019 – Arrival: 07.00 – Departure: 14.00
During your cruise in the Caribbean Sea, after disembarking from your cruise ship in the Dutch port of Philipsburg and visiting the Court House, the heart of the city (a white and blue building dating to 1793 that now serves as the Post Office), don’t miss out on an excursion to the French side of the island. Marigot, the capital of Saint Martin located on the island’s western coast, is protected by the great lagoon of Simpson Bay. It has retained the atmosphere of late 17th century, when it was founded. It is worth your while to visit its historical centre, which is crowded with wooden houses dotted with delightful shops.
Day 6: At Sea
Thursday, 16 May 2019
Sit back, kick off your shoes and put your feet up during our ‘at sea’ days, where you can chill in the bar, lounge by the pool or enjoy a relaxing beauty treatment in the spa. Equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym cardio and strength-training equipment, the MSC Seaside gym offers a wide range of original fitness courses and training programmes. The multi-level glass-walled atrium stretch over four decks, creating an atmospheric venue for live entertainment while the two glass-floored catwalks will give guests spectacular ocean views.
Day 7: Nassau, Bahamas
Friday, 17 May 2019 – Arrival: 12.00 – Departure: 19.00
During an MSC cruise through the Caribbean Sea, you will visit Nassau, which occupies the eastern portion of the island of New Providence and is linked by a charming bridge with the neighbouring Paradise Island, where Atlantis Waterscape is located. The largest open-air aquarium in the world, it has over 100 different species of colourful tropical fish. In Nassau, you can interact with dolphins and go on excursions to neighbouring islands in motorboats.
Day 8: Miami, United States
Saturday, 18 May 2019 – Arrival: 07.00
Heading north, Central Miami Beach was where 1950s screen stars had fun in the sun and helped cement Miami’s international reputation as a glamorous holiday spot. Surprisingly few tourists venture beyond Miami Beach, and so miss out on some of the most enticing parts of the city. Tucked away in the Miami-Dade Cultural Center are the city’s excellent history and art museums, while Bayside Marketplace is the staging post for boat tours of Miami’s most exclusive offshore keys. To the north sits the city’s buzziest neighbourhood, the strip of land along and around Biscayne Boulevard, known as the Biscayne Corridor; it includes the dazzling Performing Arts Center, the art galleries and showrooms of Wynwood and the Design District, and even the grubby but thrilling immigrant neighbourhood known as Little Haiti.
