Welcome to Zanzibar. Here, you will be met at the airport (or ferry terminal) upon your arrival and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Stone Town is a captivating labyrinth of narrow streets and winding alleyways. Lose yourself in the buzz of the bustling bazaars, and check out the many mosques and grand Arab residences. Options include visiting the local museums, shopping, or just relaxing.

Stone Town Walking Tour

Enjoy a walking tour along the bustling narrow streets of Stone Town and admire the historical old buildings and homes that are part of a preservation program funded by UNESCO and the Aga Khan Foundation. Also, visit the historical site of the slave market and learn about this dark aspect of history. Continue to the local fruits and vegetable market, fish market, Tip tipu house, and National Museum.

Jozani Forest Tour

Spice Plantation Guided Tour
Zanzibar

Delight your senses with a guided tour and learn about an assortment of spices, such as cloves, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, breadfruit, jackfruit, vanilla, and lemongrass, and their various uses. It was the spice plantations that brought the beginnings of Zanzibar’s infamous slave trade dating back to the 1840s.

Mangwapani Coral Cavern and Slave Caves

Explore the fascinating Coral Cavern and Slave Caves. The coral cavern is a large natural cave with a small entrance and a pool of fresh water at the bottom. It is reputed to have been discovered in the early 19th century by a boy working on the estate of Hamed bin Salim el Harthy, a wealthy Arab plantation owner. The boy found the entrance whilst searching for a goat which had fallen into the cavern. As a source of fresh water, the discovery was a blessing and from that day Hamed’s slaves regularly collected water from the pool for use on the estate. Includes entrance fees, guide, and transportation. Price dependent on drop-off location.

Day 4: Nungwi

Relax on the white-sand beach, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy the centre of Zanzibar’s traditional dhow-building industry and the beach capital of Zanzibar. Opt to spend the day sailing at sea.

Opt to hop on a dhow for a cruise just off the coast to watch the African sun go down over the Zanzibar channel.

Snorkelling

Enjoy a day of snorkelling in the safety of an experienced snorkel guide in the area of one of Zanzibar’s most well-known reefs surrounding Mnemba island. Lifejackets, short wetsuits and buoyancy aids available. Lunch is included. Price is dependent on pick-up location.

Safari Blue – Sailing Day Trip

Enjoy a full day of sailing on a dhow, including opportunities to snorkel in the clear blue waters. Dock on a remote sandbank and enjoy a traditional dish made with the catch of the day. Later, glide out on the waters in a canoe carved of a single mango tree and opt to swim, snorkel, or just relax. Snorkelling equipment is included.

Scuba Diving

Explore the incredible reef circling Mnemba island on the east coast of Zanzibar. Dive through the clear, turquoise waters of this conservation area.

Nungwi Village Tour

Explore the traditional fishing village of Nungwi. Get an early start to experience the fish market in full swing. Take a tour of the local boatyard where fishermen’s dhows are made the traditional way. Tour a Portugese settlement dating back to 1497, to get a better understanding of the Portuguese conquest of Zanzibar. End the day with a visit the Mnarani Aquarium.

Swahili Cultural Tour

Take a couple of hours to get to know the life of a Zanzibarian by being immersed in the local culture. Follow a guide through a rural village to see elements of day to day life, sit with men of the village to see how they weave palm fronds to make the thatch roofs for their huts, opt to play a game of Bao (Zanzibar favorite game past time), and enjoy a traditional dance performance.
